Colorado weather: Cool and cloudy to start the weekend

Saturday daytime highs will stay in the upper 50s with mostly cloudy skies. There's a chance for scattered rain showers in the Front Range through early afternoon. The majority of the rain and snow will stay in southern Colorado.  The heaviest snow is expected to fall above 10,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains where a Winter Storm Warning remains in place through noon on Sunday. The San Juans could see an additional 6 to 12 inches of accumulation by Sunday afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place through 6 pm Saturday for the Eastern Sawatch Mountains, the Wet Mountains and Pikes Peak where an additional 3-6 inches with locally higher amounts of snow are possible. Travel may be impacted across the highest mountain passes tonight through Sunday morning, mainly from I-70 south above 10,000 feet.

As the area of low pressure moves through Colorado on Sunday it will be breezy at times with wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour. In the metro area there will be a small chance for a stray shower. Daytime highs will be warmer on Sunday, with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. Next week, temperatures will stay in the 70s with mostly sunny and dry conditions.
