DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day remained in effect Sunday for strong wind gusts that could be dangerous for Denver and surrounding areas, some of which could cause property damage, make travel difficult and lead to power outages.

High wind warnings remain in effect until noon on Sunday as wind gusts in some areas reach 80 or more mph

Fire weather warnings will go back into effect Sunday afternoon as wind gusts continue to reach 50 to 80 mph with low humidity.

Weather today: Sunny, breezy

Sunday will be sunny and breezy. Wind gusts in Denver will continue to reach 30-40 mph during the day. High temperatures will only reach the mid-50s, which is 5 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.

Weather tonight: Breezy, partly cloudy

Sunday night will stay partly cloudy with seasonal temperatures falling near 30 degrees. Winds will be much calmer with a few gusts reaching 25-30 mph.

Looking ahead: Workweek warming trend

Monday will start a trend of much milder conditions. Sunshine moves in Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and will aid in a gradual warming trend.

There will be a slight chance for a midweek shower, followed by climbing temperatures. Highs will keep climbing to the 70s by Friday.
