Denver weather: Warm, dry and breezy weekend leading to high fire danger

KDVR Fox 31

DENVER (KDVR) —  Denver's weather will stay warm, dry and breezy for the rest of the weekend through Monday with highs reaching the mid-60s.

Fire weather warnings will be in effect Sunday due to low relative humidity and wind gusts reaching around 30 mph.

Weather tonight: Mainly clear

Saturday night will stay mainly clear with a southwesterly breeze gusting up to 15 mph. Low temperatures will fall near freezing, which is about 10 degrees above average.

Weather tomorrow: Sunny, breezy, warmer

Sunday, sunshine and a warming trend continue to dominate the forecast.

It will be on the breezy wide with a southwesterly breeze gusting up to around 25 mph. The combination of dry weather with the strong breeze will increase fire concerns.

High temperatures will climb to the mid-60s, which is about 20 degrees above normal, but still below the record of 74 degrees set in 1986.

Looking ahead: Next chance for rain and snow showers

Monday, the trend of sunny, breezy and warm weather continues. Highs will climb back up to the mid to upper 60s, which is just shy of the record of 71 degrees set in 1950.

The next big change moves in on Monday night into Tuesday. As a cold front moves into the area, snow will start in the mountains.

Snow will start as early as Sunday night in the mountains. Heavy snow plus a strong breeze and blowing snow will lead to dangerous driving conditions. Because of this, winter storm watches are set to go into effect Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening for areas above 9,000 feet.

Showers will move into the Denver metro as early as Monday night, and then thin out by Tuesday night. Sunshine returns to the forecast on Wednesday. Temperatures Wednesday will be cool but seasonal, climbing to a high in the upper 40s.

Sunshine remains in the forecast for Thursday through the start of the weekend, which will aid in another warming trend.
