DENVER (KDVR) — The Lakewood Police Department is searching for two suspects involved in an assault on Sept. 20 at a gas station store on Wadsworth Boulevard.

According to the agency, two male suspects assaulted and threatened a victim with a gun at a 7-Eleven in the 3600 block of Wadsworth Boulevard at about 10:34 p.m. in late September.

The agency said the suspects "claimed to be 'Crips'" from Crenshaw. The Crips are a street gang that originated in Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, known for wearing the color blue. They are known for their rivalry with the "Bloods," another gang, who are known for wearing the color red.

Lakewood police said the pair reportedly assaulted the victim because he was wearing a red Chicago Bulls jersey.

The suspects fled south from the gas station where they then attempted to carjack another victim's truck at gunpoint. That victim was able to reverse his truck and drive away from the suspects.

Lakewood police described one suspect as a white or Hispanic male with thick, dark hair and facial hair and eyeglasses. He was wearing a trucker hat, a white tank top, dark-colored pants and had tattoos on his outer right forearm.

The second suspect was described by police as a white or Hispanic male with brown/reddish hair and "soul-patch" facial hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Police noted that tattoos were visible on the right side of his neck, by his left eyebrow and on his right inner forearm.

Anyone with information about this incident or these suspects is asked to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867, or online at MetroDenverCrimeStoppers.com.
