KDVR Fox 31

DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado man was sentenced to five years in prison after he was arrested in a child prostitution sting in June 2023 where authorities arrested nine people.

Luis Son Gonan, who was 27 at the time of arrest, contacted investigators to solicit sex from what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. He went to a hotel in Larimer County in late June 2023 on the premise of meeting for sex and was taken into custody.

Son Gonan pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting a child prostitute, attempted patronizing of a child prostitute, cybercrime — soliciting/arranging a minor prostitute and attempted sexual assault on a child.

The case went to trial in July and the jury found him guilty of soliciting a child prostitute.

The district attorney's office for Larimer County requested Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation, but Son Gonan was ultimately sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections.

Prosecution of other individuals who were arrested in the sting operation is ongoing.
