KDVR Fox 31

DENVER (KDVR) — The Larimer County Sheriff's Office issued a Medina Alert on Wednesday night for a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred earlier in the day.

According to the agency, the crash occurred at about 1:47 p.m. and involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and an older model, white Ford Ranger single-cab pickup truck.

The sheriff's office added that it was able to learn that the truck has a license plate with an X in the sequence, a round blue/green logo on the driver's side door, and a ladder rack over the top of the bed.

The truck fled the scene. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said the truck was driven by a man.

The sheriff's office said the motorcycle was traveling east on Weld County Road 44, just east of Interstate 25 in Berthoud, when the pickup pulled out in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, the agency shared in a press release at about 7:30 p.m. At about 10:20 p.m., the Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced the Medina Alert had been issued and the motorcyclist had died of his injuries.

Anyone who sees the truck is asked to call 911 or the Larimer County Sheriff's Office at 970-416-1985.
