The Middle Park High School mountain bike team finished third place in Division 2 of the Platte region during the regular season, and will send 15 athletes to the state competition.
Securing third place overall varsity win was senior Josh Davis.
“His determination and skill on the bike have been evident throughout the season, and this achievement is a testament to his hard work and perseverance. Josh has consistently pushed himself to improve and his efforts have certainly paid off, making him a role model for younger riders on the team,” wrote Grand County Cycling Club board president Eliza Vecchiarelli, whose daughter is on the team.
Freshman Avery Jacobson, who is a newcomer to the team, won every single race in her category and took first place overall.
“Her remarkable consistency and competitive spirit have set her apart from her peers,” Vecchiarelli stated.
Sophomore girls Luca Archie and Zanna Berman finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively.
“Luca and Zanna have shown that hard work and teamwork can lead to great achievements,” Vecchiarelli said of the Sophomore girls’ performances this season.
The fifteen riders that are headed to the state competition will depart in style with a send-off ride Thursday, Oct. 17, at 4:18 p.m. The team will leave the high school and ride through Granby.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and show their support for our talented athletes,” Vecchiarelli said. “Bring your Panther pride and enthusiasm as we cheer on our riders!”
