Pedestrian killed in crash on I-225 at Parker Road

DENVER (KDVR) — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 225 early Friday morning.

At 1:37 a.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation posted on X that southbound I-225 was closed at CO 83 - Parker Road due to safety concerns. The exit is near the Cherry Creek Reservoir.

Several agencies responded to the crash, including law enforcement officers from the Aurora Police Department, the Colorado State Patrol and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office told FOX31 the crash was a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian. The investigation is still in its early stages, and it is unclear why the pedestrian was on the interstate to begin with.

CSP added that the driver allegedly left the car at the scene and fled on foot.

Southbound lanes of I-225 were closed for around four hours and reopened to traffic at around 4:30 a.m.

CSP is handling the investigation, and more information will be released at a later date.
