Town in northern Colorado marked coldest spot in U.S. on Saturday

One town in northern Colorado was the coldest spot in the country on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Walden, a town of just under 600 people in Jackson County near the Wyoming border, was officially the coldest place in the United States on Saturday morning as temperatures dipped down to 15 degrees, NWS meteorologists said.
The northern Colorado town tied with a spot 32 miles southwest of Bynum, Montana, according to meteorologists.
The data from the NWS Weather Prediction Center does not include Alaska or Hawaii.
Runner-ups included Fraser in Grand County, where temperatures dropped down to 17 degrees, and Crested Butte in Gunnison County, where overnight lows hit 18 degrees, meteorologists said.
Denver’s low temperature for the same morning was 35 degrees, according to NWS records.
While Denver’s temperatures have been warmer than usual for October, winter is on its way to the metro area.
The first freeze hit Denver on Friday and the city could see its first snowfall of the season on Wednesday, according to NWS forecasters.
