Avalanche further bolster forward depth, add Brandon Duhaime from Minnesota

Denver Post

One day after making a pair of big moves, the Colorado Avalanche made a smaller one Thursday to further bolster their forward depth.

The Avalanche added Brandon Duhaime, a fourth-line wing from the Minnesota Wild, for a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL draft. Duhaime has four goals and four assists in 62 games this season. He had a career-high nine goals in 51 games a season ago.

Duhaime was a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NHL draft. While not exactly in the same mold as the recently departed Kurtis MacDermid, Duhaime has 230 penalty minutes in 193 career games and has earned a reputation as a hard-nosed player. He’s averaged more than 10 minutes per game in each of his three seasons with the Wild — that’s twice as much as MacDermid played per contest for the Avs this season.
