Rockies spring training report: Kris Bryant continues hot start

On the mound: Lefty Austin Gomber got his first Cactus League start and escaped a bases-loaded jam without giving up a run in the first inning. … Righ-hander Noah Davis, battling for the fifth spot in the rotation, allowed one unearned run across two innings. He allowed four hits and a walk while striking out one. … Right-hander Riley Pint, hoping to impress with improved fastball command, pitched a scoreless eighth inning while issuing one walk.
At the plate: First baseman Kris Bryant continued swinging a hot bat. He hit 2-for-3, including a double and also scored a run. … Third baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Prospect watch: Right-hander Angel Chivilli earned his first Cactus League save and remained scoreless through his first three appearances, allowing two walks and striking out three over three innings. Chivilli pitched most of the 2023 season with High-A Spokane before joining Double-A Hartford on Sept. 5.
