Denver Police Arrest Juvenile for Investigation of First-Degree Murder

Denver – Friday, February 2, 2024 – The Denver Police Department announces the arrest of a juvenile male for the fatal shooting of a 60-year-old male, which occurred on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

On that date, at approximately 6:41 p.m., Denver Police officers responded to investigate a shooting that occurred on a bus near the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Mississippi Avenue. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

At this stage of the investigation, it appears there was verbal exchange between the suspect and victim about the victim's leg blocking the aisle on the bus, and the suspect then shot the victim.

A second victim suffered a minor injury, was treated at the scene, and did not require transport to the hospital.

Through the extensive investigation, detectives identified the suspect to be a 13-year-old male who was taken into custody late yesterday afternoon and is currently being held for Investigation of First-Degree Murder, and the investigation is ongoing. The final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney's Office.
