The Aurora Police Department arrested a 17-year-old Denver boy on Friday in connection with a March fatal rollover crash on Interstate 225.

Aurora Police are not identifying the teen because he is a minor, according to an Aurora Police Department news release, but confirmed he was the driver.

The teen was booked into the Aurora Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and two counts of motor vehicle theft, the release said. The teen has been taken to a youth detention center.

On the morning of March 30, Aurora police responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on northbound I-225 at Alameda Avenue.

Five teenage occupants were thrown from the car, which was a stolen 2016 Kia Sorrento. Paramedics took four teens to the hospital, where a 15-year-old girl died from her injuries.

Police believe speed was the biggest cause of the crash, although the usage of seatbelts, alcohol and drugs were being investigated, police said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone with information about it is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
