DENVER (KDVR) — A 41-year-old man was arrested for allegedly running over a person with his car following an argument in Littleton.

According to the Littleton Police Department, officers were called to a crash near the intersection of Broadway and West Powers Avenue at around 8 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned that two people had been involved in a minor car crash that then escalated into an argument. According to police, one of the drivers exited their car. The other driver, 41-year-old Rene Cooke, allegedly ran the victim over and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to a hospital and remains in critical condition, according to police.

Because the victim was outside of the car when they were hit, the Littleton Police Department is calling this a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

Cooke was eventually located by police and taken into custody on charges of vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.

The investigation is ongoing.
