The suspect in a fatal shooting in Aurora on Friday night is in custody after falling out of a moving vehicle that was being trailed by officers, according to the Aurora Police Department.

Aurora police responded to reports of shots fired at a home in the 3600 block of Zeno Way at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, according to a summary of events the department posted on the social media website X.

An adult male was seen fleeing the scene. Some of the responding officers followed his vehicle. When the car made a turn, the suspect “fell out of the moving vehicle” which crashed nearby, police report.

The suspect was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during that fall but is now in custody, according to APD.

One victim, an adult male, was also transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound but later died, the department reports. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will be releasing his identity at a later time.

The suspect is facing a first-degree murder charge, Aurora police say.
