DENVER (KDVR) — A snowmobiler died and another person was hurt in a Monday crash near Crested Butte, according to the local sheriff.
The crash was reported around 4:05 p.m. through a satellite device, Gunnison County Sheriff Adam Murdie said in a release.
Deputies and police joined search and rescue to respond to the scene in the Splains Gulch area, which is just west of Crested Butte. There, they found a 49-year-old man dead at the scene.
A second person was hurt and transported to a hospital by ambulance.
The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
