Sulphur Ranger District ambassadors are hitting the road this summer to bring U.S. Forest Service information to visitors and residents alike around Grand County.

The district was previously hosting bi-monthly open houses at the office in Granby. However, with summer in full swing, the open houses have been paused. Instead, Forest Service information will be available through trained ambassadors at the Winter Park Visitor Center, Destination Granby, Grand Lake’s downtown kiosk at Town Lake Park, Monarch Lake Cabin and Junco Lake Cabin near Meadow Creek Reservoir.

Ambassadors will be at these locations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Forest Service partners and volunteers from Grand County Wilderness Group and Headwaters Trails Alliance are also helping provide information to visitors. Trained volunteers are hosting the Monarch Lake and Junco Lake cabins on weekdays through the end of September, while Headwaters Trails Alliance ambassadors can be found on the trails throughout the county.

Forest Service staff will also be attending community events throughout the summer, including Granby’s weekly Music & Market event, which takes place every Thursday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Polhamus Park.

Anyone interested in meeting with a Forest Service specialist can schedule an appointment by emailing [email protected] or calling 970-295-6600 and pressing zero for assistance. Campground reservations and other permits must be reserved on Recreation.gov.

More information about visiting the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland is available at FS.USDA.gov/ARP.
