An 18-year-old Centennial man was arrested Wednesday on charges of child sex exploitation after Arapahoe County sheriff’s officials allege he harassed and extorted juvenile victims over Snapchat and text messages.

John Farnsworth Van Der Bosch was arrested on suspicion of seven counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count each of criminal extortion and aggravated cruelty to animals, all felonies.

The sheriff’s office began investigating Van Der Bosch on Feb. 6 and found he “was sexually exploiting children and in possession of materials containing child sexual abuse,” the agency said in a news release Friday.

Investigators believe there may be more victims in the case.

Anyone with information can contact the sheriff’s office tip line at 720-874-8477.

Van Der Bosch is in custody on $100,000 bail and is set to appear in court on June 25, according to court records.
