DENVER (KDVR) — More snow in the mountains will continue ahead of snowfall moving into the Denver weather forecast by the end of the week.

A high wind warning will be in effect for the foothills areas from 6,000-9,000 feet until Thursday. During this time, westerly winds will reach 25-40 mph with gusts up to 80 mph.

Winter storm warnings, winter weather advisories and avalanche warnings remain in effect for the mountains through at least Thursday. New snowfall plus strong winds will make travel difficult at times and have increased avalanche concerns.

Weather tonight: Clouds, cool

Wednesday night, snow showers will continue in the mountains, but the Front Range will just see clouds and breezy conditions. Low temperatures will fall to 30 degrees, which is about 10 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.

Weather tomorrow: Partly sunny, mild

Thursday will be partly sunny and mild. Temperatures will climb to 50 degrees ahead of the light chance for showers Thursday night.

Looking ahead: Snow chances Friday and Saturday

On Friday, more clouds will build in ahead of the chance for snow showers. Temperatures will be mild in the afternoon, reaching a high in the mid-40s, which will cause any morning snow showers to melt or afternoon showers to mix with rain.

Snow showers will pick up Friday night into Saturday. Right now, there is still a big range in model snowfall amounts, but the Denver area is on track to pick up a few inches of snowfall on Saturday, with higher snowfall accumulations in the foothills and toward the Palmer Divide.

Snow showers taper off on Sunday, but chilly air will still be in place. Sunshine and more seasonal temperatures in the mid-40s move in for the start of the next workweek.
