DENVER (KDVR) — After seeing several inches of snow for the first significant snow event in Denver weather this season, quieter weather will move in overnight.
However, the Denver weather forecast remains snowy heading into the weekend. Pinpoint Weather, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, is tracking more opportunities for accumulating snowfall on Thursday and Friday.
Weather tonight: Cold and not as snowy
Temperatures fall into the teens and 20s across the plains overnight Wednesday, with the mountains likely falling into the single digits.
The weather will stay mostly dry most of the night, but snow will return from the south early Thursday morning making for a potentially slick commute. That's why Pinpoint Weather Alert Days have been issued.
Weather tomorrow: Morning snow, drier afternoon
After the morning snow on Thursday, drier conditions move in for the afternoon, although areas in the eastern plains will likely see continued snow showers.
Accumulations around metro Denver will be around one to three inches through Thursday, with the plains again seeing four to seven inches or more.
Looking ahead: Potentially major winter storm late Friday
Friday evening may be the climatic event of this snowstorm. Model guidance currently indicates the potential for major accumulating snow across the Denver metro area and the Eastern Plains. The Pinpoint Weather team will closely monitor this storm system.
If you're sick of the snow there is good news. Sunshine returns Sunday with warmer conditions into early next week as temperatures rebound into the middle 50s.
