DENVER (KDVR) — Sunshine and above-normal temperatures continue to dominate Denver's weather through the start of next week. However, the next chance for showers and a big cooldown are not far behind.

Weather tonight: Mainly clear

Wednesday night will stay mainly clear. Temperatures will drop to the 40s, which is still about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Weather tomorrow: Sunny, breezy

Thursday will be another day with sunshine and highs in the 70s. It will also be breezy as a weak cold front moves through the area, bringing gusts up to around 30 mph in Denver, and stronger across the Eastern Plains and for higher elevations.

Looking ahead: Sunny weekend, next chance for showers

Behind the cold front, Friday will be cooler, but more seasonal. After starting in the upper 30s, temperatures will climb to the upper 60s alongside plenty of sunshine.

More sunshine and warmer temperatures are in the forecast this weekend. Temperatures will reach the low to mid-70s on Saturday, then close to 80 degrees on Sunday. Sunday's high is about 20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year, and just shy of the record, which is 83 degrees, set in 2016.

Monday will be breezy again as another front approaches. Right now there is low confidence in the timing and amount of moisture this front will bring. But, if it remains on track, it will bring cooler temperatures on Tuesday, alongside the chance for some showers.

Then, as temperatures drop to the freezing mark, snow levels will drop, and cold bring the first snowflakes of the season to the area, alongside the first widespread freeze.
