DENVER (KDVR) — Well above normal temperatures return to Denver's weather Wednesday, ahead of the chance for rain heading into the weekend.

Weather tonight: Mainly clear

Tuesday night will stay mainly clear. Temperatures will fall down to the lower 40s, which is about 5 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Weather tomorrow: Sunny, warmer

Wednesday is sunny and warmer. A southerly shift in wind will help to boost high temperatures to 80 degrees. This is 15 degrees warmer than normal, but still well below the daily record, which is 89 degrees set in 1991.

Looking ahead: Rain chances and much cooler

Thursday will be mainly sunny and breezy with wind gusts reaching around 30 mph. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, and reach the mid-70s.

A cold front will bring increasing clouds for the first half of Friday, followed by more seasonal temperatures in the 60s and the chance for showers increasing by the afternoon and evening.

Rain showers will linger into Saturday with much cooler temperatures only reaching the 50s. A slight chance for showers will linger Sunday with seasonal temperatures climbing from a low in the upper 30s to a high in the mid-60s. Then, sunshine returns for the start of the next workweek.
