DENVER (KDVR) — A woman in Fort Collins was shot after she confronted two suspects who were reportedly breaking into her vehicle.

On Monday at 1:20 a.m., Fort Collins Police Services officers were called to the 700 block of Crown Ridge Lane in the Provincetowne neighborhood near Robert Benson Lake.

According to police, the victim was awoken by a family member who said two unknown men were breaking into her vehicle, which was parked in front of her home. The woman went outside to confront the trespassers, and one of the suspects fired multiple shots, striking the woman in the leg.

The suspects then fled on foot before officers arrived.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. She has since been released.

According to police, the suspects are described as two males wearing dark-colored clothing, hoodies and backpacks.

Fort Collins police said the duo is "considered armed and dangerous."

“This type of violence will not be tolerated in our community and our detectives are committed to identifying and apprehending the suspects. The safety of our community is our priority, and we ask the public to call 911 immediately if they witness any criminal activity or suspicious behavior,” said Lt.
