DENVER (KDVR) — Warm, dry conditions have firefighters along the front range as ready as ever.

At West Metro Fire Rescue, firefighters are keeping up with their normal routine, knowing it could be a long weekend.

"It's been a couple of years since we've seen a fall, this bad," said Capt. Tyler Sugaski.

Across Morrison Road at Bear Creek Lake Park, a prescribed burn has been postponed due to continued dry weather, high fire danger and local fire restrictions.

At Big Soda Lake Beach, the water is dotted with paddle boaters, who are also cognizant of how the nice October weather can give visitors a false sense of security.

"Respect the state you live in," said one paddle boater.

The dry conditions have caused Pinpoint Weather to issue an Alert Day for high danger on Saturday.
