The town is currently exploring options for various vacant lots around Granby, which was discussed at a Granby Board of Trustees meeting May 28.

The Garrett Lot refers to the vacant lot south of the Mane Salon at 270 East Agate Ave. Trustee Sharon Silva suggested using the Garrett lot to host food trucks this summer through the winter while final plans for the lot are still being decided.

Silva brought up the fact that previous town-wide surveys given to Granby residents have shown that many have asked for more dining options.

The board approved allotting $5,000 for the project and waiving town license fees for food trucks located in the Garrett Lot. The funding will be used for items such as picnic tables, portable bathrooms, lights and other miscellaneous items.

Food trucks, vendors and community groups can reserve their spot on the lot for free online. While fees are waived for food trucks, vendors will still need a Granby Mobile Food Vendor Permit.

Granby Police Chief David Shaffer introduced the department’s newest officer, Joshua Nederbragt, to the board. Nederbragt graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 2022, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering.

He recently graduated from the AIMS Community College police training academy on May 11 and received his Colorado police officer certification.

Nederbragt took his oath of office at the meeting on May 28.
