DENVER (KDVR) – The Denver Police Department said Monday that it arrested a motorcyclist who allegedly drove through the crowd at Denver Oktoberfest on Sept. 27.

According to DPD, the motorcycle rode past barricades used to block the street off for the event, which took place in the city's Ballpark District at the end of September.

The motorcycle then allegedly rode past officers and a marked police vehicle, disregarded orders from officers and rode through the crowd. They were stopped nearby and arrested for reckless driving, driving outside of license class, driving without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, disobeying a police officer and failure to obey a traffic control device.

The motorcycle was also impounded.

This is not the first report of its kind. DPD said it has "received numerous complaints" about motorcyclists riding recklessly as well as reports of people riding illegal off-road motorcycles and ATVs.

FOX31 reported on one incident in September where a man walking his dog downtown caught a group of ATVs and dirtbikes riding on sidewalks and running a red light.

According to DPD, it is illegal to use ATVs such as four-wheelers, side-by-sides and dirt bikes in city limits.

Police encouraged anyone who witnesses similar incidents to report it to the police non-emergency number at 720-913-2000 or call 911 if it is an emergency.
