GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - Tyler Boebert - the oldest son of Rep. Lauren Boebert - received a two-year deferred sentence Thursday after entering a guilty plea stemming from an incident earlier this year.

At the Garfield County Courthouse, Boebert - whose family was in attendance which included his mom - pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft with the intent to obtain an item of value. All other charges he faced were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

In addition to the deferred sentence, Boebert will have to complete 80 hours of community service within the first year and pay court costs.

If he completes his deferred sentence, Boebert will not have the felony on his record.

Judge John Neiley told Boebert before sentencing that, "This is an opportunity that you should not squander."

According to the Rifle Police Department, Boebert was arrested on Feb. 27 after a string of vehicle trespass and property thefts in Rifle.

Boebert was originally charged with four felony counts of criminal possession of ID documents, one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony and over 15 misdemeanor and petty offenses.
