BRIGHTON, Colo. (KDVR) — FOX31 brought you the story last week of a Brighton woman who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run, and now, police have released surveillance video of the man running away from the scene.

Although the video is short and the man's identity is vague, the woman's family and police hope someone knows something about the incident and will come forward to help find the driver.

"I feel like it's only the right thing to do. It’s — I don’t know, maybe they don’t have a guilty conscience," Thalia Morrison said.

The search continues for the man after he struck the 19-year-old on Feb. 2. The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of South 18th Avenue and East Bridge Street in Brighton.

“I know there is a lot of people working and trying to figure this out, so I do have hope," Thalia said.

Nighttime surveillance video showing a man running down a street

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect running away from the scene of a hit-and-run at the intersection of South 18th Avenue and East Bridge Street in Brighton.

Police say after the man ran a red light and hit Thalia, he parked his vehicle at the Discount Tire Shop on East Bridge before running away from the scene.

Dominick Morrison, her father, recalls the moment he learned what happened.

"On my way to the hospital, I couldn’t believe it. It had to be the worst night of my life," he said.

Thalia told FOX31 her life has not been the same since.

"It's just simple tasks, like just being able to hug my family — I can’t even do that," Thalia said. "It's stressful. It's hard. None of this is easy, and no one should have to do this."

Although police don't have much to go on from the video, Thalia still has this hope: "That they find him and I get justice. This is painful both mentally and physically. My family too. It affected my family, not just me, and it's really hard," she said.

She knows the road to recovery will take some time.

"Even starting the process of being able to walk. I know that's going to be frustrating. It's not fair, because the person who did this is just out living their life, and I'm stuck like this," she said.

Anyone who recognizes the man from the video or knows where he could be found is urged to call the Brighton Police Department at 303-655-2300.

They say the driver was described as a middle-aged Hispanic male wearing gray basketball shorts, a black shirt and a black hat. He was last seen running north on North 19th Avenue.

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with medical costs.
