On the mound: The Rockies improved to 14-7-1 in the Cactus League behind a strong start from new right-hander Cal Quantrill. He did not allow a run over 4 2/3 innings, struck out three and walked one. Quantrill lowered his ERA to 2.53. … Relievers Matt Koch (one-third inning), John Curtiss (one inning), Evan Justice (one inning) and Jake Bird (one inning) all had scoreless outings.

At the plate: Shortstop Ezequiel Tovar doubled in the fifth inning and is slashing .294/.324/.588 through 13 Cactus League games, with a .912 OPS. … Catcher Jacob Stalling, designated hitter Charlie Blackmon and right fielder Sean Bouchard each hit RBI singles.

Prospect watch: Catcher Drew Romo, who remains in big-league camp, hit an RBI triple in the ninth. He’s batting .238 with a .768 OPS.
