Wil Lutz had a change of heart.
After the veteran kicker agreed to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier on Monday, he decided to back track and return to Denver on a two-year deal, according to his agent John Perla.
The deal won’t be official until after the 2024 league year begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Lutz is coming off a strong season where he converted 88.2% of his field goal attempts and went 4 for 5 on attempts from 40-49 yards. He had a stretch where he made 12 straight field goal attempts. He also had three games where he buried at least four field goals.
Denver acquired Lutz in a trade last August with the Saints, pairing the kicker with his former New Orleans coach Sean Payton. The Broncos gave up a 2024 seventh round pick in the deal.
