Megan Fudge DeHeart Drops Out of the 2024 MLP Draft

Megan Fudge DeHeart has withdrawn her name from the upcoming 2024 MLP Draft. If recent history has shown us anything, she won’t be the last.

In an Instagram post Thursday morning, Megan had this to say:

Megan is a mainstay on the APP Tour and has won close to 70 professional medals. She consistently competes on Championship Sunday in all three events: singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

While she has also participated in PPA Tour events, she has yet to find similar success there.

In 2023, she played for two MLP teams, the Columbus Sliders in Premier (as a substitute) and the Seattle Pioneers in Challenger. Even though she wasn’t drafted by the Premier Level club, her performance as a substitute player proved she had the skills to compete at the highest levels.

What this means for Major League Pickleball

We will never know if Megan would’ve been drafted by a Premier Level team this year in the MLP, but she very likely would have been a welcomed addition at the Challenger Level. Pickleball fans will certainly miss seeing her skills and competitive fire play out on the MLP stage.

Will other players follow Megan’s lead and withdraw their name from the 2024 MLP draft player pool? Rumors suggest she's just the first domino to fall.

The 2024 Premier Level MLP Draft is currently set for Tuesday, April 2nd.
