Woman dies in hit-and-run, suspect sought

MONUMENT, Colo. (KXRM) — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said a woman's death is being investigated as a homicide after she was hit by a car at the McDonald's on Baptist Road in Monument around noon on Monday.
According to EPSO, the car that hit the woman was a dark-colored minivan with no front license plate and a light-colored metal trim horizontal stripe down the side. The van has stock silver rims and significant damage to the front passenger bumper and side.
EPSO said there was possibly a white handicap placard hanging from the front rear-view mirror. The van may also have red paint scuff marks on the front passenger side of the vehicle.
EPSO said the van was driven by a man who had a female passenger. Monument Police and EPSO are looking for any information on the incident and the driver. If you have information, contact EPSO at (719) 390-5555.
Law enforcement will be on scene for several hours, EPSO said. Northbound Struthers Road will be closed from Reagan Heights to Baptist Road for the remainder of the investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: One dead following hit-and-run in Monument

One person is dead following a hit-and-run crash in Monument on Monday, Nov. 4.
According to the Town of Monument, officers with the Monument Police Department (MPD) responded to a hit-and-run crash in the 700 block of West Baptist Road, near the intersection with Jackson Creek Parkway.
When officers arrived, they found a person severely injured on scene. Attempts were made to save her, but she ultimately died. The driver who hit the person left the scene.
The Town of Monument asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact MPD at (719) 481-3253.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) will be providing more information to the media in Monument Monday evening. FOX21 News has a crew on the way to the scene and will provide updates when more information is available.
